CHRISTMAS COMES TO MOOMINVALLEY
Christmas Comes To Moominvalley is a heartwarming story of Christmas, from the perspective of creatures who have no idea what Christmas is! It was a joy to work with Kaveh Rahnama and Alison Alexander again to create this worlds first, a version of Tove Jansson’s work to utilise circus performance. Starting work on the show early I experimented with what my sound pallet would be, what instrumentation and what themes and moods would best capture the joy and sincerity of this story. After we managed to cast performers who could play instruments and sing I weaved in live instrumentation and song. With a small cast and a lot to do this involved a lot of integration of the music with the narrative and stage direction. Receiving glowing reviews from the likes of The Guardian, Broadway World and Curtain Call and very warm words from audience members, this show put everyone in the mood for a Christmas full of generosity.
